A psalm of life (Memories of school days :) )

Tell me not, in mournful numbers, Life is but an empty dream! For the soul is dead that slumbers, And things are not what they seem. Life is real! Life is earnest! Insane Indulgences ?

Something which bothers me is why do educated, well informed people spend like crazy on their weddings -- Why cant we start a culture of doing some thing good on the wedding day, like the couple planting a tree ?  Feeding some poor people on the wedding day. Anyways at the end of the wedding, the guests end up complaining --why please such people ? Help some poor people and you may not receive gifts but genuine heart felt wishes from them! Is it really so difficult to change our mindset to do this ?
